Join us for an introductory session designed to demystify cloud computing and open your eyes to the career opportunities it creates. In the first half of this session, we’ll break down exactly what “the cloud” really means. You’ll start with a look back at how enterprises traditionally ran software out of physical datacenters, and how that evolved into the modern public cloud landscape dominated by hyperscalers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. We’ll explore why organizations choose to move to the cloud, what kinds of services the cloud actually provides, and introduce the concept of “cloud native” computing through the lens of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), covering key ideas like containerization and Kubernetes. We’ll wrap up this portion with practical next steps, including recommended courses and certifications for anyone looking to build cloud skills.
In the second half, we’ll shift focus to the many career paths available in the cloud industry today. We’ll walk through a range of in-demand roles and specializations, including application and infrastructure modernization, AI engineering, data storage and analytics, networking, and security. We’ll also spotlight two increasingly important roles: the Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), who keeps systems running smoothly at scale, and the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), one of the hottest emerging roles in tech right now. The session closes with a full 30-minute open Q&A, giving you the chance to ask questions, get personalized advice, and dig deeper into whatever aspect of cloud computing interests you most.
